07-01-22 – Please join us for the unveiling of the Jacob Shook historical marker located on Shookville Road in the town of Milan, New York. The ceremony takes place Saturday, July 23, 2022, 10 a.m. Jacob Shook was Milan’s second supervisor, post master, and served in the Dutchess County militia from 1811 through 1816. In 1833, he and his brother, Peter, donated land for the construction of the Shookville Church and Cemetery. This historical marker is made possible through the William Pomeroy Foundation and was granted for the thorough and important research done by Bonnie Wood, who is a descendant of prominent Milan citizens. 06-13-22 – Wilcox Memorial Park Update: Swimming at Wilcox Memorial Park is CLOSED for the 2022 season due to the ongoing construction of a splash pad water play recreation area. Hiking, camping, and pavilion usage is still available. Check DutchessNY.Gov for up-to-date information regarding the use of these facilities.
